Standard Introduces Automated IM-30 Sheet Inserter

Insert up to 3 Sheets at Speeds up to 4,000 Booklets per hour

Standard Finishing Systems has launched the new Standard Horizon IM-30 In-line Sheet Inserter, complementing the Standard Horizon StitchLiner SaddleStitcher and SPF-200A Bookletmaker. Designed for commercial printers, in-plant printers, and trade binderies, the IM-30 is capable of inserting up to 3 independent sheets into booklets at speeds up to 4,000 per hour.

The IM-30 can automatically insert sheets in the middle of or beneath the top sheet of a booklet when connected in-line with the Standard Horizon StitchLiner SaddleStitcher or SPF-200A Bookletmaker.

The IM-30 has three bins with 4.9 inches of capacity in each, allowing for less frequent reloading of paper. The IM-30 uses the same patented rotary-pulse vacuum feeding system as the proven VAC Series collators, and delivers exceptional productivity on nearly all paper stocks for inserts such as post cards, hole-punched sheets, and folded sheets.

The IM-30 is equipped with a touch-screen control console for ease of operation, advanced programming, error detection and system monitoring. System functions are presented using an icon-based graphical interface. This provides for easy training, operation and troubleshooting. The IM-30 eliminates manual processes to increase productivity and reduce labor costs.

According to David Reny, managing director, Standard Finishing Systems, "The IM-30 Sheet Inserter is a continuation of Horizon's strategy to bring productivity, performance, and automation to every area of the bindery. Horizon has combined their expertise in precision engineering with a user-friendly interface. Combined with a SPF-200A Bookletmaker or StitchLiner SaddleStitcher, this creates a powerful, productive and efficient bookletmaking system."

Xerox Names Standard Finishing Partner of the Year

Standard Finishing Systems has been honored by Xerox Corporation (NYSE: XRX) as the "2006 Outstanding Customer First / Service Support Finishing Partner of the Year." Presented for excellence in customer and service support, this award recognizes the significant contribution of partners to the success of Xerox and its customers. Standard has now been the recipient of a "Partner of the Year" award for four consecutive years.

"Standard's contributions in 2006 were key to helping Xerox achieve our annual partnership sales objectives, " said Jerry Murray, Vice President, Product Marketing, Production Systems Group, Xerox Corporation. "They also helped us increase customer satisfaction with excellent service support."

Standard offers a range of in-line and off-line feeding and finishing solutions in cooperation with Xerox, but the award was based primarily on the outstanding worldwide success of the Horizon ColorWorks Series of in-line bookletmakers for the popular Xerox DocuColor ® digital color presses.

"Standard shares this award with Horizon International, our partner in Japan, who had the engineering vision and expertise to develop an innovative all-in-one finishing solution for digital production color," said David Reny, managing director, Standard Finishing Systems. "Horizon engineering, Xerox color printing technology, and Standard's comprehensive sales, marketing, and service support continue to be a winning combination for customers."

The ColorWorks Series of bookletmakers perform scoring, bleed trimming, stitching, folding, face trimming and stacking, all in-line, with end-to-end system automation and touchscreen control. The ColorWorks line is the product of a close engineering alliance between Horizon International and Xerox. It was designed from the ground up to meet the unique requirements of in-line digital color document production.

Standard Finishing Systems has been a Xerox Finishing Partner since 1992, offering a range of paper handling and finishing solutions that compliment Xerox black-and-white and color printers and presses. Solutions range from Hunkeler unwinders, rewinders, cutters and stackers for continuous-feed printers, to in-line and off-line Horizon folders, bookletmakers, and perfect binders. Horizon has worked closely with Xerox on a global basis with product development projects, marketing and field technical support.
